Teaching Blended Classes

"Blended" or "Hybrid" classes combine face-to-face classroom instruction with online learning. A significant portion of the learning activities take place online, and time spent on instruction that traditionally occurs in the classroom is reduced but not eliminated. At Washington State Cmmunity College, blended classes are divided: 50% face-to-face and 50% online teaching/learning activities. This allows the student much more flexible scheduling, while maintaining the face-to-face contact with the instructor and classmates that is typical of a more traditional course. For more details about blended classes, view THIS informative presentation by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

E4Me Online Course

All instructors who wish to develop and/or teach blended classes at WSCC MUST enroll in E4Me online class. E4Me is a free non-credit course that exposes you to what e-learning is all about from the point view of a student. Visit the E4Me Web Site to enroll in this course.

Once you complete E4Me, you need to schedule a one-on-one Sakai training. Please contact the Director of Distance Learning to arrange a time.
